The Wavefront Technology laser provides the latest in customized care. The innovative "flying spot" technology provides a smoother treatment resulting in less glare and haloing and more accurate surgery. Wavefront mapping technology used in combination with the Bausch and Lomb Zyoptix system provides your surgeon with information about your eyes that will be used to plan your completely individualized laser vision correction procedure. Even eye imperfections that could not be treated with conventional LASIK techniques are now being corrected with this personalized system. In addition, the Wavefront Technology laser provides the latest in safety features including the Active Eye Tracking System, which follows the eye even if the patient moves. During the FDA approval trials, the outcomes for the Wavefront Technology laser far exceeded all other laser in terms of achieving 20/20 visual acuity with the lowest percentage of side effects such as glare and halos.

This is the Science Friday (National Public Radio) video about LASIK eye surgery. The funny thing about this video is that the narrator, who is probably also the producer, is a lot more nervous about LASIK laser vision correction than the patient himself. He is cool as a cucumber, I had LASIK myself, didn't think it was a big deal and now I see fantastic. The video features Steven Vale, MD, medical director of Acuity Laser Eye & Vision Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Dr. Vale is one of the most well-respected and experienced Lasik surgeons in the world. Dr. Vale has performed over 21000 laser vision correction surgeries. Dr. Vale's ability and experience really comes out in this otherwise realistic and detailed glimpse at the world of laser vision correction surgery.

This video has been provided by Dr. Rupal Shah, New Vision Laser Centers, Vadodara. It highlights a cross between two procedures-FLEx (Femtosecond Lenticule Extraction) and SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction). The Carl Zeiss Meditec Visumax Femtosecond Laser is used to create both a refractive lenticule, as well as a LASIK flap. Unlike conventional Femtosecond LASIK, where a femtosecond laser is used to create a flap, and the excimer laser is used to perform the refractive correction, this is an ALL-IN-ONE (AIO) procedure, where only a femtosecond laser is used to perform the entire LASIK procedure. ALL-IN-ONE can be done using a technique known as FLEx, which is basically similar to LASIK, but can also be done by a technique known as SMILE (which reduces the incision size to perform LASIK. This video shows a procedure known as Psuedosmile, where the full incision is made with the Femtosecond Laser, but the lenticule is removed only from a small area.

Surface ablation or PRK is the safest procedure for laser vision correction, though recovery of vision takes a bit longer. Surface ablation does not require cutting a flap in the cornea, and is therefore the procedure of choice when the cornea is thin or irregular
